Spring is a time of new beginnings, cleaning and detoxing. For some, this might mean completely decluttering and revamping the house. For others, this could be tuning into their health.
If you’re in need of a bit of a refresh, here are some of my favourite things to do in spring:
- Add plants to your surroundings
With spring in full swing, there’s no shortage of flower bouquets at the local markets and luscious tropical plants at nurseries. I love adding a pop of colour to my space with flowers and greenery, not to mention also being able to enjoy the air-purifying qualities of plants! It’s also a great time for planting seedlings in your garden and to fertilise your existing garden.
- Brew a cup of tea
Spring is an ideal time to detox. Some herbs to consider brewing include spearmint, chamomile, burdock, dandelion, and combination of lemongrass and ginger. Remember that herbal teas can be much more detoxifying than caffeinated ones. If you’re not in a tea-drinking mood, try turning your favourite Beit e’Shai blend into an iced tea instead!
- Whip up a green juice
Juices and smoothies are a fantastic way to enjoy seasonal fruits and veg, providing the body with much-needed nutrients. I love mangos, bananas and berries blended together for an icy smoothie, or watermelon, fresh mint and cucumber squeezed into a refreshing juice. On a similar note, try to up your water intake to ensure you stay hydrated as the weather warms up.
- Rearrange your furniture with feng shui in mind
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese practice of harmonising oneself with one’s physical environment. If you’re feeling a bit bogged down, take the time to rearrange a room in your home according to feng shui principles. Simply, this could be by decluttering or finding diagrams online for ideal furniture placement.
- Invigorate your body
During winter, and especially during Melbourne’s lengthy lockdown, it proved to be difficult to take care of our bodies. The temptation was to curl up on the couch, rather than be active! Spring offers an opportunity to make some simple changes to take better care of our bodies and minds. This could be a simple morning meditation, a relaxing yoga flow, or a brisk daily walk in the sunshine.
