Spice Trails is back

It is a great honour to be an artist in residence at Brunswick Mechanics Institute next month to further develop my performative dinner and Live Art work Spice Trails & Trade Routes.

An iteration of this work was presented in my studio last year, and Im excited to have the opportunity to develop it further in my residency, where I will further explore the cultural, social and political dimensions of contemporary food culture while still drawing on important histories inspired by spice trade along Silk Road.

This immersive Live Art project is part installation & part performative dinner inviting the audience on a journey to listen, taste and smell their way through different countries, cultures and communities. This journey explores the development and destruction of great civilisations that has shaped the way we eat today.

I will be writing more updates during my residency about my research and development.  And stay tuned for more information about the presentation of this year’s performative dinner!

What’s it all about?

Winter is here and as the days grow shorter and the nights colder, we all need a bit of extra care. A hot cup of nurturing tea will help warm the bones and sooth the soul. Beit e’shai (Bayt eh shy) in collaboration with Rhubarb Rhubarb Organics, presents the Herbal Infusions for Winter Wellness Workshop at Preston Market. The workshop will discuss various herbs and spices that can support us during winter. Join us for this workshop so you can experience a warmer season!

What will we cover?

During the workshop, nutritionist Rasha Tayeh will prepare different organic herbal infusions and discuss their benefits for wellbeing. We will learn about herbal infusions for good sleep, digestion, and staying warm during winter. We will enjoy tastings from Beit e’Shai organic herbal tea with instructions on how to brew the tea and practice self-care during Winter.

Who will be teaching?

Rasha Tayeh is a nutritionist, herbalist and artist. Her practice is inspired by the seasons and ways in which we can enhance connections with our bodies, our communities and with nature. She combines principles of nutrition and herbalism in her wellness workshops.
Rasha is the owner and founder of Beit e’Shai (House of Tea in Arabic, pronounced bayt eh shy). Drawing on her knowledge and appreciation of traditional Arabic medicine and herbalism, Rasha creates aromatic teas and tisanes that focus on health, wellbeing and comfort.
